Three potential buyers, UnitedHealth Group, TPG and Bain Capital, have all entered the race to acquire athenahealth. These offers are in addition to the still standing offer from hedge fund Elliott Management. Athenahealth has been considering a potential sale since June and, with more offers on the table, the real possibility of an acquisition is on the horizon.
